To prevent your child from disabling location tracking or uninstalling the Family Orbit app, you can use Apple’s Screen Time, Restrictions, and organizational tools like the App Library. Follow these steps:
1. Enable Screen Time
- Open Settings on your child’s device.
- Tap Screen Time and select Turn On Screen Time if it isn’t already enabled.
- Follow the setup prompts and choose This is My Child’s iPhone.
2. Set Restrictions to Prevent Changes
-
In the Screen Time settings, tap Content & Privacy Restrictions and enable the toggle.
-
Restrict Location Services:
- Go to Privacy > Location Services.
- Ensure Location Services is ON, and set Family Orbit’s location access to Always.
- Tap Don’t Allow Changes at the top of the screen to lock this setting.
-
Restrict App Deletion:
- Under Content & Privacy Restrictions, go to iTunes & App Store Purchases.
- Set Deleting Apps to Don’t Allow.
-
Prevent Modifying App Settings:
- Scroll to Apps in Content & Privacy Restrictions and restrict settings modifications for Family Orbit.
3. Hide the App Icon Using the App Library
If you want to reduce the chances of your child tampering with the app, you can hide the Family Orbit app in the App Library:
- Long-press the Family Orbit app icon on the home screen.
- Select Remove from the Home Screen (this will move the app to the App Library but not delete it).
- Inform your child that the app is hidden for organization and to prevent accidental modifications—not as a way to deceive or infringe on their trust.
4. Lock Screen Time Settings
- At the bottom of the Screen Time settings, tap Use Screen Time Passcode.
- Set a passcode your child doesn’t know to prevent them from accessing or changing restrictions.
Reminder
While hiding the app can reduce the likelihood of tampering, it is important to maintain open communication with your child about why the Family Orbit app is in place. This feature should not be abused to violate your child's trust or autonomy. The goal is to create a safe and secure environment, not to be unnecessarily invasive.

By combining these tools, you can ensure Family Orbit remains active and effective while fostering trust and understanding with your child.
