If you receive the error message "No device found" after providing your Apple ID credentials and optionally entering the correct 2FA code, the issue may be caused by one of the following reasons:
Incorrect Apple ID
Make sure you are using the same Apple ID that is associated with your child's device to log in to iCloud.
- Note: Sometimes, two Apple IDs may be linked to the same device — one for iCloud and another for the App Store. You must use the Apple ID that is associated with iCloud.
No Recent iCloud Backup
If your child's device has never been backed up to iCloud, you will receive the "No device found" error message when entering your Apple ID credentials.
- To resolve this, create a new backup on your child's device by going to:
Settings -> [username] -> iCloud -> iCloud Backup -> Back Up Now - Once a new backup is created, please wait at least 4 hours before attempting to add the device again. This delay accounts for the processing time required by Apple servers to complete the setup of your first iCloud backup.
